Ice Claw USA
09 December 2010Thanks to Grant in the USA for this:
Dear Mr. Gilman,
I would really love it if you continued this trilogy, or start a new one composed of similar stories. I read your first book, The Devils Breath and was TOTALLY captivated by the book. I am a 15 year old boy and I am not much of a reader, but I just got Ice Claw and I honestly have read for a total of 2-3 hours today. You are an amazing writer and I just hope you continue the series with Max and Sayid and everyone, or you start another series just as good. I have enjoyed your books so much and I hope you find inspiration to continue writing more action packed, awesome books.
Thanks again,
Grant

Thanks for your comments, Grant, they’re appreciated. I'm pleased you enjoyed The Devil's Breath and Ice Claw. The third part of the trilogy, Blood Sun, is already published in the UK and around the world. The USA and Canada are publishing it in 2011, so I hope you'll get a copy and let me know what you think. Some readers have been kind enough to say it's the best of the three, but then everyone has their favourite. I'll certainly try and keep the action going in the future.

I was just wondering if you might know when Blood Sun will be released in Canada. I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Thank you so much for writing these exciting novels. I hope there will be many more to come!
Sincerely,
Shannon Bouchard

I'm pleased you enjoyed Ice Claw. I think it was probably the most difficult book to write in the Danger Zone series. Creating the code for Max to solve caused a few headaches, that's for sure, and digging out information on the Basque culture and mythology proved somewhat elusive as did establishing the correct astronomical and astrological predictions for the plot. Research, though, is a lot of fun and probably the easiest part of the whole process. I hope you get a chance to read the first in the series - The Devil's Breath - and that you enjoy the third book, Blood Sun, which, I believe, is published in Canada and USA later this year. Thanks for your positive comments, they're appreciated. Best wishes for 2011.
(PS) I've posted a photo of the main entrance to Chateau d'Abbadie. This amazing place inspired a huge part of the story.
