Please don't stop writing books for The Danger Zone!! Max isn't just some fictional character for many of us, he's really someone to look up to and admire. I allways like to believe that there really is a Max and that you are telling his story. Will you please reply and let me know if we can be looking forword to another book?!
    Kind regards,
    One of your biggest fans.

    David Gilman responded:

It's always a pleasure to hear from Max Gordon's fans and I very much appreciate your comments. A complex character like Max is drawn from many facets of a writer's observation, reflection and imagination. They're the most energetic of books that I have written so far, and it's good to know that they are appreciated by, what is, a very broad audience. I think you've identified the the sense of urgency in the Danger Zone series. I wanted my readers to be right there in the heart of his vivid adventures, to take them into the core of his world and their own imagination.

I spend a lot of time researching, and travelling to, these far-flung places so I can give my readers an authentic feel for the locations. That, combined with my own past experiences, blend to create the strong sense of reality in the books.

It's good to know you feel he's more than a fictional character. He had to be believable for me to write him that way, so his vulnerability was a key issue. Having been scared a few times myself I knew how important it was for him to find a way of overcoming his fear. I think you're right - there is probably a real Max Gordon out there somewhere. And I bet he lurks inside us all, just wanting to escape! I have other challenges lined up for Max in the Danger Zone, but there are no plans to continue the series in the foreseeable future.

It was good of you to take the time to write and for your support for Max Gordon. We both thank you!

    Hi Mr Gilman

I have reread all of my Danger Zone books several times now!

Are there going to be more Max Gordon?

    David Gilman responded:

Thanks for your email. It's always nice to hear from someone who has enjoyed the books. Did you read the German edition or the English? My German publishers have done a wonderful job with the book covers and they have just brought out the paperback editions and I think these new covers are the best I've seen anywhere in the world - (so far.)

At the moment there are no plans to do any more Danger Zone series.

I've just realised what country you're from - fabulous place SA - I have many friends there and visit whenever I can.

Hello Mr. Gilman, my name is Shannon. I'm 19 years old and I hail from Montreal, Canada. I bought Ice Claw yesterday and I just finished it. I couldn't put it down! It is a truly amazing novel. I am an avid reader and budding writer and I haven't read a book this good in quite a while. Ice Claw will be going straight into my "Best Books" bookshelf.
I was just wondering if you might know when Blood Sun will be released in Canada. I can't wait to get my hands on it!
Thank you so much for writing these exciting novels. I hope there will be many more to come!
    Sincerely,
    Shannon Bouchard

    David Gilman responded:

I'm pleased you enjoyed Ice Claw. I think it was probably the most difficult book to write in the Danger Zone series. Creating the code for Max to solve caused a few headaches, that's for sure, and digging out information on the Basque culture and mythology proved somewhat elusive as did establishing the correct astronomical and astrological predictions for the plot. Research, though, is a lot of fun and probably the easiest part of the whole process. I hope you get a chance to read the first in the series - The Devil's Breath - and that you enjoy the third book, Blood Sun, which, I believe, is published in Canada and USA later this year. Thanks for your positive comments, they're appreciated. Best wishes for 2011.
(PS) I've posted a photo of the main entrance to Chateau d'Abbadie. This amazing place inspired a huge part of the story.

Wow! This is an impressive website containing all you need to know about this talented writer. If you have not yet read his books then get on with it. From first to last they are really gripping stories and must surely one day become a trilogy of movies. Good stuff and makes Harry Potter look like child’s play - which, of course, it is.

I wonder if Messrs. Cleese, Chapman, Idle, Jones et al. knew of this meaning back in the sixties!!!
